Edward Sherwood recipient of the first "Aldo" award, presented at our 25th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

LMA is the brainchild of our former Mayor, the late Aldo Tatangelo, a man of great vision who adopted Laredo as his hometown, leaving his mark on our community because of his friendliness, his innovative mind and his progressive spirit. Among other things, he was a successful businessman and an entrepreneur in every sense of the work. He was a firm believer in the notion that government and business must work together, and realized the important role that an organization such as ours, the Logistics and Manufacturing Association could play in the promotion and development of international trade.

LMA has decided to honor his memory by establishing an award to be given periodically to deserving person, and we have selected an outstanding individual to be the first recipient of this honor.

I find it difficult to adequately describe the many virtues and qualities possessed by this individual, for the Almighty endowed him with so many attributes. If I try to describe each and every one of his impressive characteristics, my intuition tells me I will quickly run out of superlatives. Suffice to say, however, that when we consider his excellent traits, which include perseverance, dedication and determination, he is undoubtedly the epitome of a great leader. He served as the third President of LMA in 1989, and has never lost is momentum or his loyalty to this organization, and continues to be the same modest, competent and hard-working individual and undoubtedly a roll model for future generations.
